As football fans across the country gear up for Super Bowl Sunday, we at 1220 Exhibits are taking a moment to celebrate the incredible sports museums we’ve helped create over the years. From football to baseball, golf to tennis, we’ve had the privilege of bringing the rich history and thrilling moments of sports to life through immersive exhibits and innovative fabrication.
Crafting Unforgettable Sports Experiences
We understand that sports museums are more than just halls of memorabilia. They are living, breathing spaces that honor the legends of the game, inspire the next generation and immerse fans in the action. Our team has worked closely with sports organizations, teams and historians to craft exhibits that capture the excitement and emotion of the game.
Some of our most notable sports projects include:
Pro Football Hall of Fame: Lamar Hunt Super Bowl Gallery
The Pro Football Hall of Fame unveiled the Lamar Hunt Super Bowl Gallery, a 3,400-square-foot exhibit honoring the game’s evolution. Named after the man who coined the term “Super Bowl,” the gallery highlights its history, MVPs, and legendary players. 1220 fabricated and installed all exhibit elements, including custom artifact mounts for iconic pieces like the Lombardi Trophy, Joe Namath’s Super Bowl III jersey, and championship rings from every Super Bowl. Engaging audiovisual features—large-scale projections, interactive databases, and a “design your own ring” experience—help to tell the story of how the Super Bowl became one of the world’s largest sporting events.
Pro Football Hall of Fame: Hunt/Casterline Card Collection
The Pro Football Hall of Fame organized and served as the inaugural venue for a traveling exhibition: The Hunt/Casterline Pro Football Hall of Fame Card Collection. Showcasing selections from a collection of over 300,000 cards—the most valuable football card collection in the world—the exhibition offers visitors the rare opportunity to view complete collections while learning about the history of collecting and the intricacies of card grading. 1220 custom-designed display cases were created to present both sides of the cards as if they are floating, without visible supports, allowing viewers to fully appreciate the intricate details of each unique card.
Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame
1220 was commissioned to enhance the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame with updated exhibits, scenic figures, and artifacts, delivering an intimate and immersive experience for visitors. The Hall of Fame now features 65 custom display cases, including recessed, freestanding, cylinder, and wall-mounted designs, showcasing artifacts such as the Lombardi trophies, Brett Favre’s player contract, stockholder certificates, and championship rings. The Interactives department further contributed by developing an effect that simulates breath vapor from the figures’ mouths, emphasizing the extreme cold conditions that players can face during gametime.
International Tennis Hall of Fame
1220 Exhibits was selected to fabricate the museum’s 6,670-square-foot renovation, emphasizing artifact-driven storytelling with over 2,000 historic pieces. To display this collection, 1220 custom-built 37 high-performance cases, retrofitted 14 pedestal cases, and upgraded the Early Tennis and Newport Casino dioramas with reconfigured glass partitions. The renovation introduced cutting-edge interactive technology, including a touchscreen globe that provides tournament data and scores, as well as a hologram theater featuring Roger Federer—both seamlessly integrated with AV hardware and lighting control by 1220.
Atlanta Braves: SunTrust Park
1220 designed, fabricated, and installed custom exhibit elements, interpretive graphics, and artifact displays to showcase the Braves’ memorabilia collection. Throughout the stadium, exhibits include a uniform jersey progression, the Braves’ Hall of Fame display, a “Greatest Moments” case with motion-activated audio and security sensors, and custom-carved wood bats and gloves honoring Braves inducted into Cooperstown. Additional elements such as suspended banners, large-scale murals, and column wraps enhance the experience. 1220 also created production-ready graphics, sourced and installed AV hardware, and coordinated seamlessly with the stadium’s construction team.
New York Mets Hall of Fame and Museum
Located within Citi Field, this 3,600-square-foot Hall of Fame is a tribute to the over 40-year legacy of the “Amazins,” as the team is affectionately known. Designed to celebrate the Mets’ storied history, the Hall of Fame showcases 1220’s extensive capabilities as a fabricator and installer, bringing together innovative materials, precise artifact preservation techniques, and seamless integration of multimedia elements. From design to installation, the project reflects 1220’s commitment to innovation, quality craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail.
USGA Museum
The USGA Arnold Palmer Center for Golf History houses the nation’s most significant collection of golf artifacts, video footage, and documents. Its interactive multimedia exhibits chronicle the evolution of golf in the U.S., spotlighting iconic moments, USGA champions, and historic championships. Spanning 9,000 square feet, the galleries immerse visitors in the game’s rich history, serving as both a museum and an educational resource. 1220 fabricated and installed all exhibit components while managing subcontractors for flooring, stone masonry, electrical work, and audiovisual integration.
Chicago Bears Halas Hall
In August 2019, the Chicago Bears unveiled the newly expanded and renovated Halas Hall, a state-of-the-art, 315,500-square-foot training facility. 1220 brought the space to life with cutting-edge technology and immersive design, celebrating 100 years of Bears football. A striking centerpiece—a suspended installation of 100 color-coded acrylic and aluminum rods—honors each season in team history, with room for future milestones. Throughout the facility, dynamic elements such as backlit acrylic numbers, motion-activated LED displays, dimensional lettering, vinyl graphics, and scenically treated walls enhance the experience.
Innovation Meets Tradition
Our approach to sports museums blends tradition with innovation. By incorporating interactive technology, immersive storytelling, and visually stunning design, we ensure that each museum isn’t just a place to look back—it’s a place to relive the game’s greatest moments. From lifelike dioramas and large-scale graphics to touchscreen interactives and augmented reality experiences, we create environments that make visitors feel like they are part of the action.
As we celebrate Super Bowl Sunday, we recognize the role that these museums play in preserving the legacy of the game and inspiring future champions. Whether you’re reliving a championship victory, standing in awe of a Hall of Famer’s achievements, or testing your skills in an interactive exhibit, the experience is unforgettable.
