The Opportunity

The Assistant Project Manager assists in strategizing, developing, and executing project plans within budget, schedule, and quality requirements, ensuring adherence to the design intent and project requirements and bringing proactive and innovative solutions to the challenges that naturally arise during custom fabrication.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Play a supporting role in the management of all aspects of projects by completing scopes of work as directed by the PM/SPM in a professional and timely manner.
  • Develop strong customer relationships through appropriate client communication and the use of professional, courteous and ethical interpersonal interaction.
  • Collaborate with internal staff (e.g., Production Manager, Technical Director, Team/Department Leaders, etc.) to ensure understanding of all project details, expectations and critical path deliverables.
  • Understand and follow 1220’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Project Management and interface with other Departments via their SOPs and the 1220 Process. Offer suggestions for improvement of processes. Priority SOP:
    • Lead the development and manage the execution plan for pre- production, procurement, production, logistics, installation and closeout
    • Ensure scope is developed within the parameters of the design intent and estimated costs and in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements (i.e., ADA, building codes, UL listing/certifications, etc.).
    • Facilitate technical drawing approval from client/designer, maintain tight control of in/out of scope and related quality requirements.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records including project components status throughout the life of the project.
    • Review project scope, budget and schedule for compliance with customer specifications and sold estimate. Develop and maintain budget projections, including +/- risk assessment for cost, schedule, resource and quality. Mitigate risk by identifying value engineering opportunities/strategies that maximize profitability while delivering quality requirements.
    • Oversee installation and closeout procedures including being physically on project sites intermittently or for the duration of the installation phase.

Qualifications

  • Requires proficient computer skills, specifically the utilization of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong administrative skills such as typing, business writing, copier and facsimile required.
  • Ability to work with clients, production crew, designers, and account executives.
  • Requires highly developed and proven customer service and organizational skills.
  • Museum experience or management experience required.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires a College Degree and/or 2+ years of project management experience in the industry.
  • Report directly to the Senior Vice President; no positions report to this position.
