Museums & Visitor Centers

The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Nature Center educates visitors about Florida Panhandle’s habitat and conservation through interactive displays, dioramas, and striking oversized animal recreations.

Overview

The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Nature Center is a hub for environmental education and conservation, designed to engage and educate visitors about the Florida Panhandle. Targeted towards youth from first to twelfth grade, the center provides a unique opportunity to explore the local habitat and understand the conservation efforts necessary to maintain its vitality.

1220 incorporated dioramas featuring taxidermy and sculpted animals and birds along with recreated trees and faux plants, interactive displays and live animal habitats in this unique visitor center. Additionally, 1220’s graphic displays introduce visitors to critical topics such as forest depletion, photosynthesis, and the impact of rapid development on natural habitats. Among the most eye-catching elements are the oversized recreations of animals, including an Indigo Bunting hanging from the ceiling, a walking tortoise, and a carpenter ant. To complete the visitor experience, 1220 also produced artifact displays and custom-made benches.
