In the vast landscape of historical preservation, there are stories that stand out, tales of resilience, courage, and unwavering determination. At 1220 Exhibits, we take pride in bringing these narratives to life through our innovative museum exhibits. In honor of Women’s History Month, we shine a spotlight on our trailblazing women exhibitions, each a testament to the remarkable achievements of women throughout history.
Zeta Tau Alpha Historical and Education Center: Preserving Sisterhood and Legacy
Step into the Zeta Tau Alpha Historical and Educational Center, and you’ll embark on a journey through the rich history of one of the nation’s oldest sororities. In collaboration with The Design Minds, we meticulously crafted a space that honors the legacy of ZTA and celebrates the contributions of its members.
Our Design/Build project at the ZTA National Fraternity Headquarters showcases over 400 artifacts, including photographs, clothing, jewelry, and collegiate memorabilia. We designed and built 12 custom cases, each meticulously crafted to highlight the sorority’s most precious artifacts, such as the original Chain of Chapters. These cases feature decorative bases with routed chain profiles, paying homage to the sorority’s rich tradition.
One of the centerpieces of the exhibit is a 19-foot long illuminated display case, symbolizing the fraternity’s growth over the years. The display comprises nine panels, each taller than the next, representing the evolution of ZTA. Interactive elements, including AV kiosks featuring sound clips and videos, offer visitors a deeper insight into the history of the sorority.
Alpha Omicron Pi: Honoring 125 Years of Sisterhood
At the Alpha Omicron Pi International Headquarters, our collaboration with The Design Minds resulted in a museum that celebrates 125 years of sisterhood and service. The Alpha Omicron Pi museum features numerous interactive elements, custom display cases, and a media recording and listening room, offering members a unique opportunity to connect with their heritage.
The Grand Hall features the “Alpha O Studio”, where members can record stories of sisterhood, and a listening/viewing studio that showcases clips from the fraternity archives. A custom display case holds Founder Stella George Stern Perry’s trunk, a cherished artifact that symbolizes AOII’s rich history.
Additionally, the museum highlights AOII’s philanthropic efforts, historical headquarters, jewelry collection, and periodical To Dragma. A 30-foot long sealed case with desiccant protects and showcases dresses worn by past international presidents, while the Inspire Ambition Hallway celebrates AOII’s leadership and chapter awards.
National WASP WWII Museum: Honoring Aviation Pioneers
Dedicated to honoring the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) and preserving the legacy of Avenger Field, the National WASP WWII Museum pays tribute to the pioneering women who served their country during World War II. At 1220 Exhibits, we were honored to contribute to this important project, ensuring that the stories of these remarkable women are preserved for future generations.
The museum features interactive exhibits, artifacts, and multimedia presentations that chronicle the contributions of the WASP pilots. Visitors can explore the history of Avenger Field and learn about the challenges and triumphs faced by these trailblazing aviators.
