This massive renovation project completely revitalized fifteen galleries spanning two floors. Glass archival display cases, built to NARA’s strict standards, showcase a wide array of artifacts from Harry S. Truman’s life and his family’s history. Interactive exhibits provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences. The project also includes three theater spaces, two of which are based on historical events that were intricately recreated by 1220’s scenic department and use the latest technology with immersive audio-visual experiences.
Some standout features are an 11 ft. tall, 14 ft. diameter scenic globe with interactive touchscreen monitors, a mechanized display case, and a recreation of the White House. This includes showcasing the renovation work along with the original stone fireplace and suspended beams from the original White House construction. Throughout the galleries, visitors can enjoy large-scale photo murals, scenic cladding, and custom architectural stone graphics, making the exhibits even more captivating.
