Overview

The National WWII Museum’s Liberation Pavilion showcases 1220’s fabrication and installation prowess across two floors and nearly 15,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space. Featuring personal stories, iconic imagery, immersive AV, scenic environments, and custom artifacts, most galleries stand 13’ tall with comprehensive exhibit coverage. A notable exhibit is the two-story Confetti Wall, with over 100 backlit, laser-cut galvanized panels evoking a ticker tape parade.

A significant challenge in the Liberation Pavilion was the Salt Mine gallery, a meticulous recreation of Hitler’s cave where stolen European artwork was hidden. This gallery includes famous art reproductions and custom Italian frames. To achieve this at scale, 1220 constructed the Salt Mine in our warehouse before disassembling and installing it in New Orleans. Through careful planning, 3D scans, and collaboration with a structural engineer, 1220 successfully overcame the complex fabrication and installation obstacles in the Liberation Pavilion.
